SOPHIE CUDD, agent
Sophie Cudd joined The Book Group in 2023, previously with William Morris Endeavor. She holds a degree in English Literature from Southern Methodist University and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
Sophie represents a wide range of authors, including New York Times and USA Today bestselling novelists and children’s book writers. She champions projects with a wide commercial appeal that balance accessibility with depth, falling in love with any book that entertains while also saying something important.
In fiction, Sophie particularly loves high concept romance, twisty mysteries and thrillers, lightly speculative stories or grounded magical realism, and anything with a crackling atmosphere and lovable characters. Any novel that transports, surprises, or peels the curtain back into a unique voice, time or place is right up her alley.
In nonfiction, Sophie loves big ideas and an even bigger voice. These range from narrative nonfiction and select memoir, to research-backed self-help, music and art history, as well as food writing and cookbooks.
On the whole, Sophie is drawn to narratives that elevate the everyday: stories about ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances, books that help readers feel seen and understood, stories that surprise, shock and delight, and narratives that inspire us to see something or someone in a totally new way. Born and raised in Nashville, TN, Sophie is also a sucker for anything Southern in setting, plot or tone. For her most up-to-date wishlist, please click here.
When she’s not reading, Sophie can be found photographing New York City on her film camera, watching Season 4 of The Traitors, or making her favorite Ottolenghi saffron pasta.
